Heads Together grew from the idea of offering weekend and day camping for families with a child with an acquired brain injury. Our Families program now encompasses a range of programs in addition to our weekend camps, including day events, an end-of-year party, and online peer group catch-ups and activities.
What Heads Together Families offers
- A safe, welcoming and supportive environment where families can meet and share experiences and become part of a community of people who understand.
- Small and large-group activities to build connections, try new experiences and have fun.
- Informal social time to allow families to get to know each other and build friendships.
- No fee to attend, although a small donation is appreciated if families are financially able.
All family members are encouraged to come along, including siblings, parents, grandparents, girlfriends or boyfriends, and carers. Participants have varying levels of ability and mobility, and are well supported by experienced volunteers.
It’s an opportunity to share experiences with others who truly understand you and truly care… It’s a weekend where it’s normal to be different. – Heads Together Parent
